Photovoltaic power plant at Contacto

In 2012 Contacto started its huge photovoltaic power plant on two of its roofs. With a installed power of 175 kWp its one of the few large scale plants in the city of Erkrath. The electric production is more than 150.000 kWh per year from which 40% covers directly our own consumption.

Installed by Energieexpert from nearby Düsseldorf its 699 polycrystalline modules of 250 W cover an area of 1170 square meters. All modules are "Made in Germany" by SCHOTT Solar and have an angle of 8° southwards connected to 10 SMA-transformers. The plant matches to the latest technical guidelines, for example the output can be reduced remotely by the public power company if the load on the public network seems to high.

The environmental effect is significant. The “green” power production saves not less than 100 t of carbon dioxide per year. 60000 kWh electric energy do not have to be transported over the public power network, but are consumed locally where they had been produced.

The solar power project is embedded in the project of environmental sustainability and climate protection at Contacto. Additionally we replaced conventional by LED lights in office, production and warehouse in last years.
